Trekabout Photography Workshops offer personalised photographic tuition, in stunning natural locations and at affordable prices.

Their “in-the-field” workshops mean more hands-on teaching and less time spent in a classroom environment. They cater for any level of experience, from the beginner with a compact camera to the more experienced photographer who is using an SLR. If you would like to learn how to use your digital camera more effectively and pick up techniques that will allow you to take more stunning photos, Trekabout Photography Workshops are for you.
Award winning photographers, Michael Snedic and Mark Rayner (click on names for their biographies) have over 40 years of photographic experience between them. They are both professional photographers, passionate about their craft, good communicators and experienced tutors. As well as lots of group tuition, each and every participant will receive personalised tutoring, suiting their individual level and needs.
While in the field, you will be shown how to achieve the best results from your camera. Towards the end of each workshop, Michael and Mark will critique some of the photos taken that day and give advice on any improvements that can be made. You will be then guided through a simplified digital workflow to make post-processing of images easier, as well as a few quick tips on some of the more useful image-manipulation techniques.
Each workshop is tailored to different aspects of photography, where there will be an opportunity to experiment with various methods and styles. Michael and Mark have a professional, yet relaxed tuition style. You will learn many new techniques and have fun in the process.
Numbers are limited to a maximum of 10 for half and one day workshops and 12 to 14 for weekend and longer workshops assuring you of very personal attention.

You will learn much more with hands-on photographic tuition, by two highly-professional photographers, than you will ever gain from reading photography books and magazines or browsing the internet.
Over the years, Michael and Mark have learned many techniques and tips that have allowed them to become successful in their field. They will share this experience and knowledge throughout each “in-the-field” workshop presented.

Full Day Mountain Experience: Saturday, 16 October 2010
Weekend Mountain Experience: Next Workshop TBA
Five Day Mountain Experience: Sunday (evening) 12 September - Friday 17 September 2010 - Springtime in the Mountains
The full day workshop will see you exploring the amazing wonders of Lamington National Park, from O'Reilly’s Plateau.
During this full day workshop, Michael and Mark aim to give group presentations as well as one-on-one tuition for each participant. They will explain a variety of digital camera functions, teach you how to use these functions correctly and discuss different photography techniques that will allow you to take better photos.

O’Reilly’s is surrounded by some beautifully-coloured birds, including Bowerbirds, King Parrots and Crimson Rosellas, most of which are quite tame. Michael and Mark will show you how to get the best photos of these birds. Tuition is also provided on macro photography, concentrating on flowers, fungi and insects.
Following afternoon tea we review photos from our day’s shoot in order to give each individual participant feedback on how they are progressing. This will include suggestions on any improvements that may be needed and cover improving your digital workflow and post-processing, followed by basic Photoshop techniques that will show you how to bring the best out of your photos.

Finally we look at landscape photography including sunset techniques (during the shorter winter days). It's a great way to finish a rewarding day - one that has been full of learning new photographic techniques, lots of hands-on practice, in the company of like-minded people and in a beautiful natural setting.
Discount accommodation (you must mention that you are attending a Trekabout workshop when booking) is available at O'Reillys Rainforest Retreat and camping is also available by contacting the Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service.
