Get to know your digital camera in one of Australia’s most stunning natural environments!

 

Trekabout Photography Workshops are pleased to announce our new, 5 day photographic workshop at O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat in the stunning, World Heritage-listed, Lamington National Park.  The workshop is designed to teach participants skills in all facets of photography, including composition, lighting, exposure, aperture/shutter speed/ISO, depth of field and much more.

Trekabout Photography Workshops cater for all levels of experience and are very encouraging to beginners.  Lamington National Park is full of photographic opportunities, including a large variety of wildlife, rainforest and eucalypt forest landscapes, waterfalls, stunning valley views, sunsets and lots of macro subjects. 

These amazing photographic locations and subjects, coupled with Michael and Mark’s extensive photographic knowledge and tuition skills, means you will have an opportunity to learn plenty of valuable photographic tips, with like-minded people. And you will do so in the most tranquil, beautiful surroundings.   

 

Program

Sunday:

·         After dinner - Introduction and overview of the week’s program

Monday:

·         After breakfast - Getting to know your photographic equipment. This is extremely important as you need to know what gear and settings are needed for specific situations and subjects

·         Audio visual presentation

·         After lunch – Landscape photography – trip to Python Rock, photographing buttress roots, vines, Crow’s Nest ferns and much more

·         After dinner – Session on “simplifying the digital world”

Tuesday:

·         Early morning  - Bird photography (before breakfast)

·         After breakfast - A continuation of bird photography and other wildlife photography techniques, including pademelons

·         After lunch – An audio visual presentation and free time afterwards to explore and photograph the natural beauty of Lamington

·         After dinner – Post-processing your digital images.  How to make your digital photos look good on your computer or as printed photos

Wednesday:

·         Full day trip (lunch out) – Elabana Falls and rainforest. Learn how to take great waterfall and rainforest landscape photos

·         After dinner – General discussion on techniques learned so far, questions answered and advice given by Michael and Mark

Thursday:

·         After breakfast – Macro photography session “in-the-field”.  After morning tea – Audio visual presentation -  macro

·         After lunch – Free time to relax or practice your techniques

·         Late afternoon – Landscape photography, heading into the hills with 4WDs and learning to photograph the stunning views into the valleys

·         After dinner – Michael and Mark will review some of your photos taken so far, on the big screen

Friday:

·         After breakfast – Photographing rustic buildings and fences at Luke’s farm (owned by Michael O’Reilly and family).  Also landscapes, depending on weather conditions.

·         After morning tea – audio visual and wrap-up

Experience:  Michael Snedic has worked in Lamington National Park for around ten years (and lived at O’Reilly’s Rainforest Guesthouse for 5 of those years).  He knows both sides of the park exceptionally well (O’Reilly’s and Binna Burra) and is one of the most qualified people to show you where the best photographic locations and subjects are. 

Since commencing Trekabout Photography Workshops, Michael and Mark have conducted over 28 workshops with over a dozen single day and weekend workshops at O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat.

 Things you will need:

·         Camera gear

·         Any lenses ranging from 15mm to 300mm (don't worry if you don't have all the lenses - you will still learn a lot with your digital SLR and kit lens)

·         Flash

·         Memory card(s),

·         Sturdy tripod

·         Camera owners manual - Important!

·         Comfortable walking shoes

·         Drinking water

·         Insect repellant

·         Sunscreen and hat

·         Spare batteries

Accommodation rates for participants:

 

Single Room (single bed) - $100- per room, per night (normally $165)

Garden View Room (Queen bed) - $155- per room, per night (normally $278)

Mountain View Room (Queen bed or Queen & Full Single) - $170.00 per room, per night (normally $325)
