Thanks for a fantastic day on the “Mountain Experience” workshop.

The stunning location in the rainforest was a wonderful opportunity to experiment with photographic techniques and to meet other friendly people with similar interests. The small group with two tutors made it easy for me to get individual attention when I needed it. You had answers to all of my questions, as well as lots of tips and advice to help me get the most from my camera. Your workshop has inspired me to continue developing my photography skills and I look forward to being part of another in the near future.  Best wishes to you both for the continued success of Trekabout Photography.

Thank you for your great photo workshop.  I have now completed 2 workshops and can highly recommend them to any beginner to advanced photographer.  It is great to be able to ask the question to people who really can explain how to do in a way that anyone will understand. I can’t wait for my next workshop.

Since attending a one-day workshop with Trekabout my photography skills have improved dramatically.  Within the first hour I learned so much about my camera that I felt I'd already gotten my monies worth.  It was invaluable getting the inside tricks of the trade from working professionals.

Mark and Michael are great photographers, excellent instructors, and I'd highly recommend taking a workshop, or two.  I know I'll be doing more in the near future.

Paulette K, Burleigh Waters - August 2007

Paulette's partner Tony came along on the recent Brisbane Wildlife Workshop and was good enough to put together some video footage of the day. A hearty thank-you Tony from Michael and Mark.

Both the "Mountain Experience" and the "Beach to Mountains" workshops were great photographic learning experiences. It was so good to work in a small group with expert instructors. It was like having a personal coach at my side to guide my photography. And I've got some great photos to prove it.
I'm already thinking about another Trekabout workshop to refine my skills.

The Beach to Mountain Experience was fantastic.  I can't think of a better way to spend the day than going from one beautiful location to the next & getting the opportunity to take fabulous photographs.  The things you learn on these treks are invaluable & add to the overall photography experience & leave you wanting to go again!'
Thanks

Hi Mark & Michael,
I want to send a hearty thank you for today’s Beach to Mountain workshop.
I realised today that it is of no surprise to me why many of your course participants were repeat clients. Your friendly, caring, supportive, and professional manner throughout the day was clearly what will see your business succeed, and grow accordingly. Did I mention an obvious passion for your craft? You have read your target market well, and deliver what is required by them. Congratulations.
As for me? Well, I learnt a ton today, and did so in an environment that will also see me return, as well as recommending your product to those I know.
A sincere thank you once again.
Cheers

I found the Beach to Mountain Experience workshop offered by Trekabout Photography great value for money with a variety of different photographic aspects covered. Michael and Marks’ love of photography spills over into their teaching technique to make the day both informative, and a whole lot of fun!

I would highly recommend Trekabout workshops to anyone that has an interest in Photography,  the locations are fantastic and both Mark and Michael are extraordinarily approachable. They provide the tuition in a relaxed, calm, carefree atmosphere and always go that extra mile to make the day enjoyable. Much better than sitting in a classroom all day! As a raw beginner, I definitely learnt a lot at the two workshops I attended and will be looking forward to attending more in the future.

The Trekabout Photography Workshop “Brisbane Wildlife Experience” with Michael & Mark was a great experience. As a wildlife artist I rely on my photos for reference and the workshop helped me to improve my camera skills through expert tuition. The variety of beautiful Australian native animals & reptiles provided for up-close photography made the day very special.

This is a case of those who can do -  but can also teach. I ended the day feeling not just like I had learnt a lot but left with enthusiasm and passion and a belief in myself that wasn't there before attending. Michael and Mark are both very supportive and encouraging to the beginner but with the skills and experience to benefit all levels. They also have a knowledge of wildlife and the area that makes it a interesting day out even without the camera. I'll be going back again.

What a fantastic day I had on the ‘Brisbane Wildlife Experience” I went in knowing a few basics and came away understanding more of what I knew and learnt more of what I did not know.  I also came away with a hunger to learn and experience so much more, thank you to both Mark and Michael for the patience, support and encouragement you showed.Coming from New Zealand and now settling in this beautiful country the opportunity to come up close and photograph your native wildlife was awesome, I came literally face to face with reptiles I did not know even existed.  The whole experience certainly had the WOW factor for me and I look forward to seeing you both in April as I have booked to attend the “Beach to Mountain”

Hi Michael and Mark,

I’ve been taking photographs for many years and have been published a few times, so many of the techniques you taught on the weekend were more familiar to me than perhaps to some others newer to photography. Having said that, I still learned a lot of new techniques and approaches.   Spending the weekend with you, and sharing your passion and enthusiasm has got me really fired up to get out there and get back into it. So, in a sense, it’s been more of a life enhancing experience than just learning how to take a good photograph. I’ll definitely be taking you up on your offer of a discount for second and third workshops, so look forward to seeing you again

Hi Michael and Mark,

Many thanks for a fantastic weekend workshop in Lamington National Park. Thank-you for sharing your wealth of Knowledge and experience. It is obvious you both share a passion for photography and the Great Outdoors. I came home energized and excited about what I had learned. Your workshops are truly unique and I recommend them to anyone wanting to fast track their skills, or simply to associate with like minded people. Finally I have photos worthy of the wall !
Thanks Again.

I really enjoyed the macro experience workshop with Michael and Mark.  I found so many features of my cameras which I was not sure about. I felt impressed that Michael and Mark both took time to help me get the shot of the lovely  movie star frog. You are both great with people as well as knowledge.

Thanks heaps

Scott and I had a wonderful time during The Mountain Weekend Workshop. We both came away with many different experiences gained from the weekend. It was nice to spend time with a group of people with various levels of photography experience and a keen interest in photography and the outdoors. Thanks to you both for sharing your knowledge of photography and experiences over the years.

Dear Mark and Michael

I am quite comfortable with using digital SLR cameras and understand the relationship of F-stop to the depth of field. My main reason for undertaking the workshop was to gain some feedback on composition which is probably the hardest thing to learn from a book. I was not disappointed and your advice prompted me to try some new arrangements and to investigate further the use of my 100mm lens rather than my standard 50mm prime lens. I now plan to practise more. I'll be back!

Yours sincerely

Dear Micheal and Mark,

Would just like to thankyou you on a great day on your "Beach to Mountains workshop" . As a complete beginner I was unsure if I would be out of my depth on the course , but the way things were explained and shown to me I came away from the day with a complete understanding of my camera and the confidence to get out and take photos. I will be doing more workshops in the future and would recommend them to anyone thinking of doing one.
Thanks again for a great day

Having attended the Full day Mountain workshop, I have no reservations in recommending the team at Trekabout Photography. Both Michael and Mark are very down to earth guys with a great knowledge of the area in which we were shooting along with a great experience in the art and craft of photography. During the day both guys were approachable, and made themselves available to answers questions 1 on 1. I went to the workshop along with a friend just beginning into photography and both of us were able go away well satisfied with our day of shooting and both learnt a number of new and helpful things.

To Michael & Mark,

Thanks for a very informative macro workshop day.  While the weather was not perfect for outdoor macro photography, I was still able to learn a lot about my own digital SLR and was able pick up on camera work again after a very long break.
I used to use a Practica 35mm SLR film camera and as I found out on Saturday, there is so much more you can do with a digital camera.
Thanks to the both of you for your support and help.  See you at the next workshop on Saturday.

Michael and Mark,

I would just like to say that I found the course extremely informative and practical. I liked that you could practice what was taught immediately and see the results. I thoroughly recommend this course and am going to attend further courses as I was so impressed.

Michael and Mark,

I came to the Brisbane Wildlife Workshop a complete beginner, armed with a digital SLR that I had no idea how to use.  I came away with some great photos but more importantly with a much better idea of how to use the aperture and ISO settings, light metering and flash to achieve good photos without having to rely on the camera's automatic settings.  Michael and Mark pitched the level just right - going through the basics with me one minute, and more complicated stuff with the more experienced photographers on our course the next.  I would recommend this course to aspiring photographers of all levels

Hi  Michael and Mark

I would like to thank you both for the time you have taken not only to teach me a lot about my camera but also about photography. It is both fantastic and rewarding to spend time with two guys who have such a passion not only about photography but with nature itself. I have now attended the "Weekend Mountain Experience" and the "Brisbane Wildlife Experience", as you know I have booked in for the "Portraiture Course" and can't wait to book in for the "Beach to Mountain" Experience, I find you both very easy to communicate with. On previous courses I have attended, the facilitators spoke way above the level of my expertise. You are both friendly, down to earth all round fantastic guys. If anyone is thinking about doing photography course, don't waste your time looking any further.  You won't regret spending the time or money with these guys.

Look forward to seeing you soon.

Kind regards

Hi Mark and Michael,

What a fantastic experience.  I booked the Beach to Mountains to escape for the day and was curious if I could get the hang of photography.  I was so impressed I booked the Mountain Experience a week later.  Considering I had never even used a tripod and I couldn't tell you what my camera was without looking at it, I am amazed at how much I have learnt over 2 workshops.  Thank you both for your patience and advice.  I have highly recommended your workshops to anyone who will listen.  I can't wait to experience the Macro and the Wildlife now.  I take my tripod everywhere the camera goes now.

Thanks again

Hi Michael & Mark

It was a pleasure to be part of the recent O'Reilly's workshop. With a small group it was professional yet friendly and I felt at ease to ask questions. The combined knowledge of Michael and Mark meant we were taken to the best locations and I have learnt so much. I will definitely be doing further workshops with Trekabout.

Great locations, great advice and critique, great fun!

What more can I say. Having tried a number of photography courses over the years I can honestly say that I have now found the best!
Michael and Mark are excellent in their instruction and the courses are small enough to guarantee one on one time with them. Why would you go anywhere else?

Hi Michael and Mark,

Thank you for a wonderful workshop. I had a fantastic day and really enjoyed the fact that the small group allowed for individual attention from both Michael and Mark. I picked up a lot of tips and tricks and have recommended the workshop to friends and colleagues who have an interest in photography. I like that it was suitable for me (a novice). I look forward to attending future workshops.

Hi Michael and Mark,

The Trekabout Photography workshops are not only informative but an excellent opportunity to photograph wildlife and natural landscapes. A unique experience, which otherwise wouldn’t have been able to achieve in everyday life.

Attached are two photographs taken on the Brisbane workshop, enjoy. I do believe they turned out very well considering I have never used a digital slr before. Magnificent tree frog shot with a Nikon D40 and a macro 90mm lens, Tawney frogmouth shot with Nikon D40 and kit lens.
